For We Are Many is the second Bobiverse novel. The family is no longer one ship. Colony plans are moving. New copies are taking stars. The book is about what those copies do when Earth still needs feeding, when the first extrasolar towns go in, and when something at Gliese 877 starts erasing whole species.

The second book splits the family across jobs. Howard draws Omicron² Eridani, the double world Milo had already surveyed as Vulcan and Romulus. Mulder drops into Eta Cassiopeiae and finds Poseidon, an ocean with no shore, only living mats thick enough to stand on. Island enclaves on Earth will later ride those mats instead of dirt. Bill’s yard keeps printing, and SCUT, the family’s real-time radio, starts stitching light-lag out of family arguments.
On Earth the livestock-and-food fight turns into VEHEMENT. Between 2175 and 2178 the group seizes torus farms, the doughnut stations that feed Sol, and hijacks Homer. Riker and Charles scrub the infection and follow a New Zealand tight-beam. Vickers, the founder, helped invent replicant control in the first place. Headquarters falls in 2178. The colony pipeline keeps moving because the farms cannot stay a hostage.
Howard opens Landing, the first extrasolar town, on Vulcan from 2188 into the early 2190s. Raptors test the wire. Cupid-bug parasites show up in the clinic. USE politics fill the inbox. Romulus work starts once a later Exodus ship arrives. Poseidon takes island colonists in 2195. The family is no longer only a rescue service. It is a landlord with wildlife problems.
Mario has been following a genocide trail. In November 2187 Bashful drops into Gliese 877 and finds industry on a poisoned world and a Dyson swarm going up, a hive wrapping a star in collectors. That is the Others’ home. Bashful barely starts the report before local ships run him down. His ship self-destructs rather than be captured. Hal follows the last burst in 2188. The Others answer with a gamma-ray weapon. Both matrices go dark on a deadman switch, stored minds wiping rather than be copied. First contact is two funerals on the same doorstep.
By the end of the book the family has towns, a water world, a terror group that already knew how replicants are controlled, and a hive that can zap a Heaven ship from inside its own system. Bill will spend the next volume turning mover plates into an answer. The second book is the one that makes that answer feel late.
